Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review with lots of Star Wars Celebration Europe episodes.

Assembly of Geeks: Getting Ready for Ghostbusters & Comic-Con starts with a Ghostbusters discussion, then they talk about the He-Man cross-over comic with Thundercats, the black and white version of Mad Max: Fury Road, and then they head into the panels of San Diego Comic Con. Fun episode.

Blast Points: Episode 29 starts with a little pre-Celebration discussion of the panels, the livestream, and K2-SO. Then they get into their main topic – vintage Star Wars toy commercials. Now this is a thing I haven’t heard very many podcasts tackle, and I’ve certainly never heard anyone cover it in depth. They dive in, play the audio from the old commercials, and provide some fun feedback on these little gems.

Blast Points: Episode 30 covers SWCE as they highlight the panels. They talk about Mark Hamill, John Knoll, Rogue One, Jiang’s spoiler, stripper Krennic, Lucas’ set visit, the sizzle reel, space monkey, Star Wars Rebels and more. Great episode as always.

Brews and Blasters: Episode 79 was the first podcast covering SWCE that I listened to, in large part because they were the first ones to get a show out, but also due to my love for the show. They go all out for this one as they bring in guests Denis and Darth Taxus, Mike Harris, Rich and Sarah, Mike MacDonald, and maybe one or two others. By the end, they go through all the big stuff, from Rogue One and Gareth Edwards, to Gwendoline Christie hosting and all the wild aliens in the sizzle reel. Great episode.

Children of the Force: Episode #42 is their pre-SWCE episode as they talk about news, Pokemon, SWCE, Star Wars: Galactic Maps, their usual segments and more. Good episode.

Children of the Force: Reaction Corps episode covers SWCE. They share their thoughts on the Rogue One sizzle reel and the Star Wars Rebels Season 3 trailer.

Fly Casual: Episode 96 is a pre-SWCE episode as they cover Rogue One, the Lucas museum, SWCE exclusives, SDCC exclusives and buckets of fun. Seriously, I think they may have been lit when they recorded. It’s a good one.

Fly Casual: Episode 97 reviews The Force Awakens #1 adaptation, Darth Vader #22, and they get into some Star Wars Rebels Season 3 predictions (still pre-SWCE), some Rogue One and Episode VIII stuff that isn’t spoilerish. Another good episode, very funny.

Full of Sith: Episode CLXXIV features Mike, Bryan and Holly as they talk LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures. This is actually a really good episode. Everyone brings their A-game, it’s happy, upbeat, lots of joking around, and Holly is a great fit. The change up in hosts, even though temporary, was really refreshing. One of the better episodes I’ve heard from them in a while.

Full of Sith/Lattes With Leia: Episode CLXXV is their SWCE Podcast Stage episode. It’s a Full of Sith/Lattes With Leia double header hosted by Bryan and Amy and covering a little bit of everything and nothing in particular. Kind of a general discussion episode and with some fan Q&A.

Geek Out Loud: Episode 186 gets into the swing of SWCE as Steve continues his “Not at Star Wars Celebration” coverage. This episode features guests Scott Ryfun and Shazbazaar as they talk LEGO Freemaker Adventures, Catalyst, the Wildspace series, Galactic Maps, Star Wars Insider, the new McQuarrie art book, the Topps card book, the Mark Hamill panel, Star Wars Rebels Season 3, Thrawn, Maul, Bendu, and they go off in some other fun directions.

Jedi Alliance: Episode 96 covers SWCE as they talk about Star Wars Rebels, Hasbro, EA, Ahsoka and Rogue One. Pretty good discussion. It’s hosted by two guys and they have good audio quality. Worth checking out.

Jedi Journals: July 2016 episode covers the usual lit news, recent releases and upcoming releases.

Rebel Force Radio: Episode 7.16.2016 is their SWCE coverage for day 1 as they talk about Daisy Ridley and Ashley Eckstein, Mark Hamill’s panel, the Rogue One panel, Gwendoline Christie hosting, and a shot-by-shot commentary of the sizzle reel. They play some audio clips and they do go over Jiang’s Rogue One spoiler. Later on, Paul Bateman joins Jimmy to talk a little bit about his experience at the con, and they wrap the episode up with a funny slowmo audio bit. Kind of a drier episode than usual.

Star Scavengers: Episode 001 launches a brand new podcast hosted by Aaron Goins (Star Wars Bookworms) and Johnamarie Macias (The Wookiee Gunner) as they focus on Star Wars LEGO. In this introductory episode, they talk about their LEGO fandom, outline the show a bit, and then they dive into the first four episodes of The Freemaker Adventures. Aaron and Johnamarie make an excellent team. Definitely some potential in this podcast.

Starships Sabers and Scoundrels: Episode 7 starts with a little Life Debt discussion and some Star Wars Rebels before jumping over to upcoming con news. Then they come back and head into SWCE talking about the Rogue One panel, the Ahsoka panel, and the Star Wars Rebels panel each in detail. Good episode with lots of fun discussion and observations.

Star Wars Report/Fangirls Going Rogue: Episode #231 is their SWCE Podcast Stage episode. It’s a doubleheader of Star Wars Report and Fangirls Going Rogue hosted by Riley, Tricia and Bethany with special guests Anthony Breznican, Adam Bray, Cole Horton and Kemp Remillard. Not too bad for a live episode.

Talk Star Wars: Episode 32 covers SWCE and starts with their lodging story nightmare. Afterwards they get into the panels, covering Mark Hamill, Rogue One and more. Not bad. The hosts are a bunch of guys from the UK. Worth a listen. I’m certainly intrigued to check out some more.

Tumbling Saber Podcast: Episode 32 covers SWCE as they talk about the Mark Hamill panel, the Ahsoka panel, Rebels, Thrawn, Bendu, Rogue One, Episode VIII and some speculation. It’s a nice laid back, casual discussion between the three hosts, all guys, as they talk Star Wars. There is some salty language, so keep that in mind if the occasional F-bomb will be a problem. This episode is pretty long and is 20 minutes shy of the 3 hour mark, but it’s a good one if you’re jonesing for some SWCE discussion.

Western Reaches: Episode #9 features a very special guest, Star Wars author Alexander Freed. He joins them for their usual topics — what they’re reading, what they’re playing — they talk a little Pokemon Go, 80’s fantasy, and lots of game discussion and the craft of writing. Great episode to check out if you’d like to know more about Alex and rather timely as it was recently announced at SWCE that he’ll be writing the novelization for Rogue One.
